MX for Children was founded by Paul Gross who wanted to
find a way to give back to Children’s Hospital after they saved
the life of his son, William. Paul combined his love of
Motocross with his passion for giving and MX for Children
was born. He was soon joined by Brett Wise of the Imagine
Guild and professional photographer Rex Backman. Together
they have been raising money for Children’s Hospital and the
Sick Kids Foundation since 2005.
Each year MX for Children raises money with their MX Ride
for Children, The Inside Line Experience, the Suzuki Raffle,
and a silent auction of gear and memorabilia signed by
Supercross & Motocross stars. The combined events have
raised over $134,000 this year.
“The Inside Line Experience has been an overwhelming
success in its first two years,” said Paul. “Live Nation and the
entire sport of supercross has been very supportive of our
cause. We have not only raised a substantial amount of
money for hydrocephalus research, but we’ve raised
awareness, which is invaluable.”
The Inside Line Experience rewards the top 10 individual
fundraisers with a Seattle VIP meet and greet where they are
treated to exclusive experiences including watching a private
race practice, touring of a factory rig, walking the supercross
track and getting premium seats.
This year’s winners came to Children’s Hospital on the
Thursday before Seattle Supercross and had an opportunity
to spend some one-on-one time with Joe Gibbs Racing’s Josh
Summey, and Honda Red Bull Racing stars Davi Millsaps,
and Andrew Short.

"Visiting the children's hospital was high on our list of priorities," said Joe Gibbs’ team manager Jeremy
Albrecht. "We have been planning for it since the start of the season, and taking a little time out of our
schedule was an easy decision. We're just happy to have the opportunity to put a smile on someone's face."
Josh Summey added, “As racers, we are fortunate to do what we do for a living, and opportunities for us to give
back to these kids is definitely enjoyable.”
Honda Red Bull Racing participated in the Inside Line Experience last year and were happy to attend again.
While watching teammate Davi Millsaps shoot pool with a youngster at Children’s Hospital, Andrew Short said,
“This is a fun event, I looked forward to coming again.”
The kids who raised enough money to win the Inside Line Experience together gathered nearly $12,000. They
include:
Hayden Cordell of Rochester, WA raised money riding his CRF150 at last summer’s Ride for Children at
Burnt Ridge.
Cayson Yakovich of Rochester, WA is an Inside Liner for the second year in a row. He went door-to-door
seeking donations. Cayson races a KTM65 and was a little disappointed that his favorite racer, Chad Reed,
wasn’t at the event.
Chris LaChance and brother Scott Dean of Renton, WA became Inside Liners by “whining incessantly”
according to their dad. Chris rides a KLX110 and Scott rides a KTM65. They agree that Chad Reed is their
favorite racer and looked forward most to walking the track and meeting more racers.
Sean Zuclich of Duvall, WA was this year’s “High Flyer”. Sean, who is 19, raised the most money for the
Seattle round by soliciting donations while working at Holiday-Parks. Sean heard about the contest from his
dad and was motivated by both the giving aspect and the prospect of meeting his favorite racers, walking the
track, and getting an inside “feel” for Supercross. Sean just turned pro and races 250 and 450 Kawasakis.
All of the kids participating at Thursday’s event were very excited to get a chance to walk the track, tour factory
rigs, and watch a private practice on Saturday. I ran into Hayden and Cayson at Honda’s rig at Supercross and
they were both having a great time.
The local campaign called MX Ride for Children happens in the summer and is a fun event geared toward
raising money and awareness. According to Paul Gross, this year’s event is not yet scheduled. They are seeking
the donation of a track and other support. So if you operate a track, have items to donate, or other means of
offering support, go to www.mxforchildren.org and get in touch with Paul.
If you’d like a chance to help a great cause and participate in next year’s Inside Line Experience, you can start
any time by downloading a pledge form from the website. What better way to help a great cause than hopping
on your motorcycle and riding with your buddies?
